Everyday Life

A holistic approach to sustainability at Ingredion

At Ingredion, we approach our sustainability program from three angles: Everyday Life, Planet Life and Connected Life.

Everyday Life focuses on human beings and making sure our processes and innovations don’t come at the expense of product and people safety, human rights and diversity, and equity and inclusion.

At Ingredion we seek out opportunities to continually improve on our processes and policies to promote ethical operations. In 2023, Ingredion achieved its lowest annual employee Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR), which we attribute to advancements in our safety culture of progressing a Zero Injury Mindset at all manufacturing and non-manufacturing locations. Our company actively engages with the SEDEX and EcoVadis communities, completing SMETA social responsibility audits at our global manufacturing sites and achieving EcoVadis certification.

We take the health, safety, and respect of the people in our supply chain to heart and expect our suppliers to do the same. Within our supply chain, we are dedicated to increasing transparency and ensuring the protection of workers. We expect our Suppliers to share the core values that reflect our principles and business practices. Our core values are: Care First, Be Preferred, Everyone Belongs, Innovate Boldly, and Owner’s Mindset.

Everyday Life partner responsibilities

Our partner responsibilities are designed to align with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the principles of the United Nations Global Compact and the conventions of the International Labor Organization (ILO), the principles laid down by the Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI), as well as Ingredion’s Code of Conduct.

In order to meet the responsibilities of Ingredion’s All Life Partners program, suppliers are expected to comply with the following :

  • Create an account with TraceGains

  • Complete SEDEX Self-Assessment Questionnaires (goods or service provider based on business type)

  • Certain suppliers, as directed by Ingredion, will need to complete SMETA 4 pillar audits via an approved auditing body and close any findings as result of the audit*

*Requirement of SMETA 4 pillar audits will be based on specific criteria communicated to the supplier by Ingredion. If supplier would like to be considered for approval via EcoVadis, please reach out to Ingredion via email.

Supplier Code of Conduct

The Ingredion Global Supplier Code of Conduct (“GSCC”) clarifies the principles and expectations for Suppliers doing business with us. We have the same expectations of our Suppliers. We expect our Suppliers to commit to the principles expressed in the GSCC, which are an important part of our Supplier selection and evaluation process.
