Preparation

  1. Mix all dry ingredients at low speed for 5 minutes or until the dry mix is homogeneous.
  2. Place the dry mix into a small hopper of the extruder.
  3. Run the extruder at screw speed of 450 rpm and barrel temperature of 9/63/92/115/140/149°C (6 barrels).
  4. Collect extrudates and dry to a moisture content of 3-4%.
  5. Apply seasoning, cool and pack.
  6. Separately check the bulk density.

Formulation hints and help 

  1. Water input into the barrel is 7%. 
  2. The amount of water added and calcium carbonate can be adjusted depending on target expansion and texture. Slightly higher amount of calcium carbonate provide less open structure.
