NOVATION^® Lumina starches

NOVATION^® Lumina 0100 functional native starch is designed to withstand intense processing conditions while supporting the clean label your consumers increasingly seek and expect.

In UHT dairy applications, such as puddings, yoghurts and desserts, it can deliver excellent tolerance while imparting a creamy, rich mouthfeel and short texture. In fruit fillings, NOVATION^® Lumina 0100 can provide excellent sheen and clarity even following long-term heating, storage and freeze/thaw cycles.

For soups and white sauces, its pale colour can impart an extra brightness to your products and in dressings, NOVATION^® Lumina 0100 can enable you to build smooth, short, stable textures with excellent stability.

Offering the shelf life and freeze-thaw stability process tolerance of highly cross-linked modified starches, NOVATION^® Lumina 0100 can withstand high-temperature processing through scraped-surface, tubular and plate heat exchangers, direct steam injection, homogenisation, colloid milling and vacuum cooling.

NOVATION^® Lumina 300 functional native starch is designed to withstand moderate to intense processing conditions while supporting the clean label your consumers increasingly seek and expect.

Particularly suitable for pasteurised dairy puddings and desserts, the neutral flavour profile of NOVATION^® Lumina 300 can allow delicate flavours to stand out. It can also allow you to build the rich, creamy mouthfeel and smooth, short textures consumers seek and expect from these products.

Its slow viscosity development also makes NOVATION^® Lumina 300 an ideal thickener for retorted soups and sauces and it can provide excellent textural stability when these products are frozen.   

Even after high shearing, NOVATION^® Lumina 300 can deliver strong texture stability in dressings, in which it can build the smooth, short and stable textures consumers seek.

NOVATION^® Lumina 340 is a functional, clean label, cold water swelling (CWS) waxy maize starch with high process tolerance and enhanced shelf-life stability. It provides improved texture stability over long shelf-life, freeze-thaw and cold storage, where instant viscosity is required, compared to other functional native instant starches. Additionally it provides a clean flavour and colour profile to sensitive applications, and is suitable for instant applications with harsh processing, low pH, additional heating step and long or challenging shelf-life stability.

NOVATION^® Lumina 600 functional native starch is designed to withstand low-to-moderate processing conditions while supporting the clean label your consumers increasingly seek and expect.

For ready-to-eat meals, chilled, frozen and ambient gravies, soups and sauces, the neutral profile of NOVATION^® Lumina 600 allows the richness and diversity of flavourings to be delivered cleanly to the consumer. Its excellent freeze/thaw stability ensures this quality is maintained throughout extended shelf life.

In pasteurised bottled sauces where a smooth texture, clean flavour profile and long shelf life are necessities, NOVATION^® Lumina 600 can deliver these requirements with a consumer-pleasing clean label.

Chilled or frozen fruit preparations and bakery fillings can benefit from a rich, natural colour and intense fresh flavour delivery, while in cream-based bakery fillings NOVATION^® Lumina 600 maintains colour, taste and stability.

Offering the shelf life and freeze-thaw stability process tolerance of a modified starch, NOVATION^® Lumina 600 can withstand the moderate processing conditions of kettle cooking with scraped-surface paddles and plate heat exchangers.

NOVATION^® Lumina 650 is a functional, clean label, cold water swelling (CWS) waxy maize starch with medium process tolerance, coarse granularity and enhanced shelf-life stability. It is suitable for instant applications with long or challenging shelf-life stability in medium process conditions. Additionally it provides a clean flavour and colour profile to sensitive applications. It is suitable for instant applications that show lumping, where a slower hydration is required, mixing in low temperatures or processes that have challenges of mixing and dispersion, such as sauces, gravies and powder mixes.

NOVATION^® Lumina 4600 is a functional, clean label, cold water swelling waxy maize starch with medium process tolerance. It provides viscosity without heating and glossiness, and a clean flavour and colour profile in sensitive applications. Cold water swelling starches can provide superior texture stability over drum-dried starches. It is suitable for use in mayonnaise, dressings, sauces and dips, pizza toppings, ready meal cold dishing, instant desserts, bakery creams and fruit fillings.
